Guatemala

I had the opportunity this year to go to Guatemala again with an amazing team of revivalists who carry the power and presence of God in such a tangible way that it has been changing lives everywhere we go. During the trip I have been journaling about what I have seen God do in Guatemala and the lives He changed. Below I have cut and pasted these journal entries onto here.

Day 1:

We got up early Sunday morning at 6am to eat and then head to a bible institute to teach others about treasure hunting. We did 2 of these teachings before lunch and they both went very well. Had the opportunity to surround the groups and pray for them as well. We even did some prophetic ministry to use as an example to help teach others about treasure hunting…

After lunch we went to Pastor Bruno’s church in Nebaj for 2 services. The first went very well and we got to pray for a bunch of people in the room. We called out words of knowledge and after that we opened up the service for prayer. I remember the Holy Spirit highlighting people that he wanted me to pray for so I would approach them and begin to pray but I had nothing to say. And when I asked the Holy Spirit he was silent, so then I was silent too. Then I heard him say, “Release my love”. So that’s what I began to do over people. It didn’t look the same for anyone, some people I just laid hands on and laughed while releasing joy and others I prayed in the spirit or just the name of Jesus. This made a huge difference as I could sense people just needed a love encounter with the Lord. The second service was a lot thicker than the first service and I noticed the water level had risen quite a bit since the first service. During worship I got completely wrecked by God and it was awesome. The Holy Spirit fell on the whole room and a lot of people were manifesting. I didn’t see any particular healings that night but I loved on so many people and I know that some of them got healed, if not all of them…Pam said she had the opportunity to pray for a lady that got completely delivered and lead her to the Lord in the course of like 10 minutes. Other team members reported that they prayed for the sick and people were getting healed. A sore foot got healed, someone with shoulder pain healed, intestinal pain healed and more! Tomorrow is construction, it’s gonna be fun and I’m gonna give it 100%.

Day 3:

Things have been very busy and very good. We started yesterday off with some construction and helped lay the foundation for a church. After that we had lunch with the Guatemalans and then got a chance to pray over them. There was a lady with a headache and pain in her neck that got totally healed and touched by Jesus! It was awesome!

After that Chad went and got interviewed on TV, which was not planned and totally a God thing. He took some of us with him and a few of us stayed to pray. I got a word about seeing Nebaj as a well that other people who are lost and hungry would come to. Then Terri told me that Nebaj means well of water. So that was awesome!

Today was more construction, we helped lay another foundation for a church and the ladies did some VBS. After that we prayed over the people of that church and the sick. A guy I prayed over had a hurting stomach and he fell over when I prayed and said he could feel a power flowing through him and that his stomach felt a little better. Praise God! Then I prayed for a lady with back pain and stomach pain and she totally got healed. After that we drove up the road to a lady’s house who was very sick with lots of joint pain and very limited mobility. She could barely get out of bed. Grant and I laid hands on her and I felt the power and love of God flowing through me so intensely. Needless to say this lady had mobility restored in her neck and could move it a lot more than before. The joint pain had also gone down quite a bit and she felt a lot better…

We went into the town of Nebaj to do some shopping and Pam and I partnered up and went around and did our own thing. Which consisted of getting lost while trying to find ice cream and looking for a bank that we couldn’t find. We made our way to Maria’s shop and I bought a nice bag from her that she made. Pam and I then went to the Plaza area and ran into Solape and Grant and said hello to them and then I mentioned to Pam that I saw a guy who couldn't walk and we should go pray for him. Right when we were about to go pray for him a drunk person walked up to us and started asking for money (i didn’t know what he was saying but Pam translated). We basically told him we don’t have money but we can pray for him. So he let us pray for him and then we made our way across the street to pray for the guy who couldn't walk. He had a few other sicknesses as well and he was very receptive of letting us pray for him. Then Pam just yelled out “Does anyone have any sickness or pain we can pray for?” (in spanish) A lady walked over and told us she had diabetes and we had the opportunity to pray over her with Grant and Solape. It was really good. I see Pam growing in boldness and it’s very encouraging to myself as well as I can tell I’m also growing and I’m expecting this trip, and this summer to be Life-changing.

We also got to meet and pray over a man named Thomas that has a crazy life story about him escaping from the Guerrilla army and saving almost 2000 other Guatemalans. This was all due to a vision he had from God and him being obedientant. Terri Mccomb wrote the book and it’s called “Escaping the Fire” and I can buy it on Amazon. Gonna have to check that out.

Day 4:

Today was our last day in Nebaj. I’m really sad to have to leave and it’s been an amazing adventure so far. Tomorrow we leave at 7am for Panahachel. It’s a very nice city on a volcano with a lake that is surrounded by volcanoes. It’s gorgeous there and I still remember it from last year very vividly….

Today was an amazing day, we left this morning and drove about 40 minutes or so to the village that we were going to do construction and VBS in. Our trip money helped pay for a roof for a church. When we got there they served us breakfast inside their very small house. After that I was helping with construction and we were moving dirt out of the church and down the dirt road about half a mile with some big hills. It was exhausting needless to say but I enjoy serving. After the construction we prayed for the church and pastor and then headed to the Dairy where we had lunch. Lunch was amazing, not only the food but also the view. We had like a 5 course meal and I completely stuffed myself. It was delicious and the farm was beautiful. After that we headed back to Nebaj and had some down time before dinner and James told Grant and I a ridiculous joke. Then we had dinner and headed to church service. To my surprise the man in the wheel chair that Pam and I prayed for the day before was there.

Worship was awesome because a lot of the songs were about dancing and right before we went to service I kept singing that “Dance with Me” song by Jesus Culture and I heard that God just wanted to dance with people. After worship we shared a few quick testimonies and then did words of knowledge. And then we started praying for the sick and people were getting healed left and right, not only through our team but through other members of the church. Then Chad preached a very short sermon and then the worship band came up and played some music. A lot of people came forward to the front to worship which seemed unusual since they weren’t doing that at the beginning of service. Well during worship the Lord put Jeremiah (the guy in the wheel chair) on my heart and told me to go pray for him. So I went over and just laid hands on him and kept worshipping. Soon after Mike and Miguel came over and began to pray as well. Right when we all began to pray together it was as if hell itself was screaming and crying out for attention. A teenager close by began screaming and shaking all over the place and I immediately knew it was a distraction and chose to stay focused on what God was doing. A few seconds later a couple more teenagers had some very violent manifestations and I closed my eyes to stay focused on what God was doing and declared not to be distracted. When we prayed the first time Jeremiah’s gastridous was healed and the pain left. We began to pray for his legs and commanded muscles to grow and spoke strength into his legs. Mike, Miguel, and I then helped Jeremiah up out of the wheelchair and he began moving his legs and trying to walk. We put him back in the wheelchair and kept praying probably for about 30 minutes or so. We helped him walk around the room 2 more times but he still couldn’t do it on his own. After that he told Pastor Mike that he gained a lot of mobility that he did not have before in his knees! Praise God! I knew God was working there and doing something but we didn’t see the full healing. But I know God is going to heal him and I feel like Jeremiah is going to wake up tomorrow morning and be able to walk. Jeremiah was so blown away and touched by God’s love, he said he was so grateful for us and that we invited him to service, no one has ever done anything like that for him before. Praise God that Pam and I got to pour out God’s love on him and impact his life with the love of the Father. Service was awesome!

After service Mike gave Jeremiah a ride home and Pam and I hung out at church for a while and sang some songs with their worship leader and it was a lot of fun. Pam and I were singing in English and the other guy was singing in Spanish at the same time, it was beautiful. Now I’m headed to bed because I’m exhausted.

Day 6:

So yesterday we left Nebaj and headed to Panajachel. it’s gorgeous there. A nice little tourist like city that has a huge lake in the middle of it surrounded by volcanoes. Pam and I did some shopping and while we were eating a Pizza place a lady walked by trying to sell us some things and Pam let her pass by the first time without saying anything and then she turned around and got her attention. The lady had bad eye sight so Pam asked her if she could pray for her and the lady said yes. Then after she prayed Pam gave the lady part of her dinner and her drink. It was amazing to see the love of God flowing out onto other people. Pam is an amazing woman of God and she has definitely added a new zeal to the team this year and it’s been awesome watching her step out in obediance to what God is saying…

Today we got up early and went on a kayak ride on the lake in Panajachel at 7am, there was like 7 of us this time (unlike last year it was just Mike's family and me). It was peaceful and so much fun. After that we ate then went on a boat ride on the lake and into another town. That was fun learning about the culture there. Then at noon we had lunch and then hopped onto the bus for a long ride back to Guatemala City. It’s my last night here and I’m really going to miss Guatemala and my amazing team! God has done so much here through us and it’s been a blessing to be apart of what He is doing here.
